Wildflowers

I brought you wildflowers

in a Big Gulp cup and I guess

that gave me away. Sure, I

drink soda from a gas station,

but I also pick flowers from

the side of the road so who

does that really make me?

Between home and you – or

during some journeyed

combination of the two – my

fuel light came on and I got

some dirt in my floorboard.

With carpet floor mats and

five bucks cash I guess it’s all

a mess, but a testament to my

character? Nonetheless. The

green in the “Big Gulp” letters

could never replace the grass,

but adding water to the bottom

of the plastic was better than

nothing, right? And if you

squint hard enough and the

light hits from the side, and

the lines blur and the colors

fade, it looks like the flowers

are almost home again;

wild, isn’t it?
